Repousse: A term in metalwork; a design that is hammered into relief from the reverse side
These brass sconces were made in Sweden. They are in the shape of a pineapple, with flower detailing surrounding the reflectors, and single tapered candle holders.
Through research, I have dated them back to 1900, making them antiques. I have yet to find this exact design, especially since they are all handmade. Comparable Swedish brass sconces will sell anywhere from $400 to $1,000. These are a great find, and quite the showstopper!
The initials “AVS” are etched into the back – see photos. Light scratching and tarnishing due to age, but recently cleaned to restore shine.
